Allen Co Rifle Slings

Allen Company Inc has now become a well-respected and established brand name with many British shooters. Amongst their products are a range of rifle and shotgun slings and cherry picking through I selected the following - Endura Padded, Cascade, High Country Camo and the Yukon Mossy Oak. To save on repetition all have top quality metal QD sling swivels already attached but alternatively all slings can be purchased without for those who prefer an alternative brand of sling swivel.

PRACTICAL DESIGNS

Materials used in manufacture are much the same – those being Cordura, strong Nylon webbing and where applicable Neoprene. ABS slide buckles cater for length adjustment and all have well-sized, fixed shoulder pads with textured non-slip inners. Also all feature thumb loops to aid stability except the Endura and it’s this model I’ll detail first.

Although quite basic compared to the others it’s still extremely comfortable due to the 2 ½” wide well-padded black shoulder strap. Interestingly the main webbing can be seen as a straight run passing over the front of the shoulder pad. This doesn’t mean the pad can be slid down the webbing as it’s double stitched in position. As a matter of interest the Yukon uses a similar design so you could surmise this layout is used for extra strength.

WIDE STRAPS

Next up is the ‘Cascade’ which has a 2 ½” wide Neoprene shoulder strap with Realtree ap HD camo pattern frontage complete with strong double stitched side trim. The High Country Rifle Sling Camo is classed as giving the wearer ‘multi-cushion comfort’ due to the way the padding has been integrated into the nicely contoured shoulder pad which can be clearly seen. This design results in the padded section being 2 ½” wide for most of it length widening out slowly at both ends to 2 ¾” in width. This combined with the shoulder straps inner ‘non-slip’ material and sections of deep recessed ridging holds your rifle very securely on the shoulder. The front is adorned with Mossy Oak Break Up camo pattern and features a double stitched trim.

Last but not least, is the Yukon Mossy Oak Rifle Sling. The Neoprene shoulder pad seems to be much thicker compared to the others. What will bring favour with riflemen is there are 4x elasticated bullet holders on the front of the 2” wide shoulder pad that cater for .222 calibre upwards.
