Buffalo River Gunbag

Buffalo River Gunbag

The Buffalo River Dominator FT PCP Gunbag 42” (to give it its full title) is seemingly marketed for the FT shooter but in my opinion is as useful to any airgun shooter. I say this due to it being deep, specifically designed for pre-charged air rifles (buddy bottle air rifles in-particular) with a large scope on board – hence the ‘FT’ designation.

Manufactured from durable ballistic nylon it has removable, internal close-cell foam lining with an inner waterproof, easy clean PVC retaining skin. This allows you to use it as a slip if your rifle needs less protection and when the foam is removed it gives even more internal height and width.

WELL PADDED

story continues below...

Measuring 42 X 15 X 6” plus in width when closed it gives you some indication of how well padded it actually is. Incidentally a 50” version is available and this longer model can also be purchased in ‘Buffalo Camo’ finish as well.

Due to the double zip fastening and internal padding it can be opened out completely to be used as a shooting mat, another reason to leave the padding in place. Another major praise worthy feature are the carrying options. These are a standard double carry handle on top, an adjustable webbing shoulder strap or it can be ‘worn’ backpack style; courtesy of the two removable harness adjustable straps that offer wider sliding shoulder pads to accommodate shooters of all builds.

For external stowage is has a full, zip-open pocket that extends right down one side and the pouch extends towards the front. It also has two 8 ½ X 11 ½” zip closure pocket on both sides positioned just below the carry handles. Another bonus is due to the depth it will accept rifles with a Nightvision scope onboard. I mention this as many airgun hunters struggle to find a gunbag so generously sized in depth to accommodate a dedicated NV combo – especially those fitted with analogue units.

TOP JOB!

The Dominator Gunbags are high quality, well featured and thoughtfully designed pieces of gun luggage. For my carbine combos, the 42” fulfils the bill perfectly and I now use it exclusively for my dedicated NV combo. Incidentally, although it isn’t classed as ‘carbine sized’ it’ll suit a large majority of hunting air rifles even with a bipod fitted. However if you do need extra length the 50” version will cater for any air rifle on the market.
