Cobber neck wrap

Cobber neck wrap

When it comes to keeping cool in some of the hottest conditions, its safe to say the Australians can teach us all a thing or two, and one of their latest and simplest ideas is the Cobber neck wrap. Based on nothing more than a small Hessian sack, the poly-cotton tube is filled with non-toxic cooling crystals that, once moistened, keep the wearer’s cool for up to five days.

All you have to do is place the Cobber in cold water for quarter of an hour, remove and evenly distribute the crystals before immersing for a further twenty minutes, the crystals eagerly swelling up as they absorb the water. Once fully invigorated, the effect of the water filled crystals wrapped and fastened around the neck cools the carotid artery which in turn provides the body with a natural evaporating system. Conversely, by placing the Cobber in a microwave for thirty or so seconds, the wrap has the reverse effect, this time keeping you warm. And when you’ve finished with it, just hang it up and let the Cobber dry or cool naturally.

During both hot and cool weather, I’ve been wearing the Cobber seen here for clay shooting, stalking and general countryside activities. The result has been that not only has the Cobber lived up to its manufacturer’s boasts, it’s actually exceeded them. Around the layouts, the last thing you want is to feel overheated especially when your scores ain’t all they should be. If one thing can be guaranteed, it’s that a well hydrated Cobber will go a long way to helping all shooters keep their cool no matter how many others things are going wrong around them.

Easy to wear, carry and wash, for £11-99p the Cobber is an ideal and rather stylish addition to any shooter’s regular kit.
