Fenix T15 Tactical Torch Kit

With so many apparently similar compact torches around any new model has to offer something a bit special. The Fenix TK15 is such an item and is available in 8-kit options, making it a top performer for its size. The waterproof and impact resistant body is black anodised, aircraft-grade aluminium and measures 135 x 25.4mm and weighs 152g (excluding batteries) with a removable yet lockable belt clip.

As a handheld it’s impressive, but when gun-mounted it comes into its own. With four digitally regulated lighting levels including strobe there’s also a rear position dimmer button for quick convenient operation of the light level. Up front behind the head is a 4-way button that selects the
brightness settings of 5, 47, 143 and 337 lumens. It has a memory and remembers your setting when you turn it OFF and ON again.

Kit 1 (on test) includes a rear push/button tail and remote pressure switches, black anodised aluminium fig-8-clamp for 1” scope mounting and it can run on 2 X CR123A Lithium batteries (supplied) or 1 X 18650 Li-ion rechargeable battery (not included). Max run time on low beam is 142hrs.

The Cree XP-G LED is capable of projecting a tight beam out to 200-yards + making it more than capable for airgun and rimfire use. The rear positioned, rubberised dimmer button is ideal for quick light level changes and coupled with the power levels available, fingertip control due to the remote switch this is a hard one to better for ease of use and sheer performance.

Kitted Up

Kit 1A includes the QD scope to torch mount (QDM) with 30mm body tubes and is also configured to mount on bull barrels or such like. It consists of a rubberised block with opposing cut-outs. One to fit the body tube, the other the 1” torch. Wide Velcro straps are uses to hold everything in position where ever it suits best – simple and practical!

Kit 2 includes a red, push-fit Filter, Kit 2A Same but with ‘QDM’;  Kit 3 has the figure 8-mount but comes with rechargeable batteries and mains charger; Kit 3A Same but with ‘QDM’ Kit, while ‘3B’ and ‘3C’ offer the two other mounting systems. These have been made especially by Sportsmatch for low mounting to scopes with low profile turrets. The mount that holds the torch replaces the top ring of a standard double screw Sportsmatch mount so it then sits directly above a base mount ring.

It provides an ultra solid mounting solution, but if you have room, the torch mount can also be clamped around the body tube of a longer scope or one with lower profile turrets. Termed by Sportsmatch as the ‘Quick Release Torch Mount,’ Kit 3B includes the1” (25mm) version while Kit 3C the 30mm.
