Gerber Bear Grylls Fixed Blade Paracord Knife

Gerber Bear Grylls Fixed Blade Paracord Knife

Let’s face it a knife is just a lump of steel with a sharp edge and a handle, these are the minimum requirements, how clever you get after that is down to you. Obviously Gerber wanted to embrace this ethos with their new Bear Grylls Paracord fixed blade knife. It’s stamped from a single piece of 5Cr15MoV steel, which includes the skeleton handle. The drop point, hollow ground blade is 8.3cms long and feature jimping on top and a choil up front. It has a grey, anti-corrosion finish, the whole thing weighs just 163 grams and measures 19.7 cms tip to toe!

Rather than getting complicated with a bolt-on handle the knife uses 115cms of orange Paracord woven into the frame that acts as the grip.

Though far from bulky this is more than enough to give a secure and comfortable hold in all conditions. It can also be removed and used for the 1000 & 1 things that nylon cord can be used for. Even without it the hold is still practical enough – and if need be you could make a handle easily and quickly enough with a split section of broom handle or even ever useful duct-tape!

The plastic scabbard offers a multi-positional, ambidextrous belt loop with lashing holes so you can secure it to your gear. The knife is retained by internal tension and offers a secure carry and easy removal.

The Gerber Bear Grylls Paracord knife is priced at around £40.49 and can be purchased from many local stockists or direct from the Gerber Store tel. 01506 406277 or visit www.gerbergear.co.uk
