Gerber Myth Field Dress Kit

A packable dual knife kit for the modern hunter, the Myth™ Field Dressing Kit brings the same sleek design as its namesake family while housing two ? eld dressing essentials - the Fixed Blade Pro with Gut Hook knife and the Compact Fixed Blade knife. Packaged together in a piggyback-style synthetic sheath it will ? t into your pack or on your belt. The base of the sheath houses an integral, carbide sharpener, so no problems about dull edges.

TWO TO TANGO

These two different blades offer a practical approach as the larger, ? xed blade Gut Hook can do all the heavy stuff like unzipping the stomach and cutting through joints etc. It shows a 3.75” blade with hollow ground edge, forward choil and jimping at the rear. The smaller Compact is great for the delicate work and a whizz at skinning out too, with its slim and fiexible 3” blade. Both are coated (grey) for corrosion resistance. The textured rubberized handles with lanyard holes are a real bonus being grippy and they look good in black with OD highlights.

Knives are retained by a friction grip in the mouth of the sheath and also a fiip-over, double loop rubber strap goes over the end of the handles. The belt loop is a rigid, nylon hanger and removable should you wish. It’s good to see that Gerber have put as much effort into the carrying system as they have the knives themselves. Often this is in an area that is overlooked by manufacturers.

POCKET ROCKET

Gerber says: “the Pocket Folder is the compact, everyday carry, counterpart to the Fixed Blade Pro.” I’d say this is doing it an injustice as it shows very beneblcial characteristics due to its smaller more compact dimensions!

It has a durable, soft rubberized handle that provides a secure grip in all conditions. The high carbon stainless steel blade is durable and lightweight, making quick work of game dressing in the ? eld. Slim and minimal, it slides comfortably inside pockets and backpacks. It measures 4.25” closed and with its 3” modi? ed clip point knife deployed gives an overall length of 7.25”.

Gerber use double thumb studs for ambidextrous, one-handed opening and there’s jimping on the rear of the blade and the front of the mid-positioned lock back for added grip.  The slim handle has a relatively long pocket clip and shares the Myth ranges individualistic, black and OD cosmetics.
