Gerber Myth knives and tools

The Myth series offers a full range of field cutlery with many options on design and usage. If you look at our website (www.gunmart.net) you’ll see a video from the IWA show that covers the whole family. Despite the different models all feature a new design handle using a textured soft rubberised material in a two-tone black and OD finish. Not unlike the Gerber Gator, but it does seem to offer more ease of use. The sheaths follow a similar build/style and show a decent, riveted-on belt loop, rubber retention strap and an integral, carbide sharper at the base.

FOLDING MONEY

I have three examples here and first up is the Folding Sheath Knife. Measuring 4.75” closed and 8.25” open, the high carbon stainless steel, drop point 3.5” blade has dual thumb studs for easy one handed opening. It shows a choil so you can choke up on the grip and jimping for added thumb purchase and also along the spine too. It weighs a mere 3.1oz which is a bonus! Engagement is by a back lock. The grip offered is sure and secure in all conditions. The lanyard point is seen towards the sculpted ribbed rear section.

The Compact Fixed Blade is what the Yanks call a ‘bird & trout’ knife, being small, flexible and handy for prepping smaller quarry. Measuring 7.25” overall, with a 3.25” blade it only weighs an ounce and has to be one of Gerber’s finest small knives ever! Despite its slim profile it’s a lovely knife to handle for those who only need a minimal field dressing blade for small area and cavity work.

SAW TOOTH

The Myth Folding Saw is 15.5” open and 8.5”, closed and shows a 6.75” dual-edge blade with both fine and coarse teeth making it the almost perfect saw for bones and wood. The comfortable and ergonomic handle wraps around a rigid, stainless steel liner to provide extra strength. The plunge (press in to open) lock at the top front of the handle provides a secure engagement open or closed. There’s no sheath but at only 2.4oz I’d say it makes an ideal addition to any hunter’s kit bag.

Gerber prove once again with the Myth series of hunting tools they do make Legendary Blades.
