Jack Pyke Neoprene Gloves

By: John Fenna

The Jack Pyke Neoprene Gloves are warm (even when wet) and offer a close, supportive fit while giving a fair degree of protection from bumps and abrasion.

Made from cloth-faced neoprene, these gloves have very effective “gripper” dots on the palm and thumb which give extra purchase on, for example, wet wooden gun furniture and the like, while on each index finger there is a “trigger finger hole” like a large button hole through which you can project your finger for more sensitive trigger control.  The tip of the glove’s index finger folds back out of the way and is held by Velcro tabs.

The wrist of the glove is elasticated for a close fit and is adjustable thanks to a deep vent and large Velcro tab.

I found the gloves very warm to wear and the fit unusually good, as was the grip.  Manual dexterity when wearing the gloves was not brilliant, with the neoprene wanting to return a closed hand to the open position.  Having said that, I have had worse problems with less warm gloves in the past, and the trigger finger holes allow sensitivity where and when you need it.

Available in sizes S-XL in English Oak camo with black trim, the Jack Pyke Neoprene Gloves cost around £18.95 and have proved just the job for cold wet weather wear as they are warm, comfortable, supportive and very “grippy”.

  • I bought through eBay a pair of Jack Pyke shooting gloves size Medium as a Christmas present. Unfortunately after wearing them only once they were far too tight and could not be worn. I then ordered another pair size XL and after wearing them a couple of times they were too tight and very uncomfortable and have not been worn since. I contacted Jack Pyke to ask why the sizing is so bad, but have not received a reply. These gloves are really only suitable for children. Beware - if you buy these gloves you could be wasting your money !

  • I fully agree with Ann Howe's comments. The sizes of these gloves are very small and even the XL pair that I have are tight on my 'average 'size hands making prolonged wear uncomfortable.
