Jack Pyke Tundra Boots

Jack Pyke Tundra Boots

The specialist field wear supplier Jack Pyke produce a range of boots that are of great interest to shooters and hunters and their latest offering is the Tundra Boot. Made with 900D Cordura uppers with an EVA midsole , a non-marking black rubber lugged outersole and a black rubber toe cover, the whole Tundra boot, bar outersole and toe cover, is printed in Jack Pyke’s renowned English Oak camouflage.

The uppers feature a stiffened heel cup and toe for stability and protection, a “flex notch” in the lacing hook support area for an easy walking action, a soft collar to the stiffened “leg” of the boot and a half-height bellows to the padded tongue.  The boots’ tubular laces run through 3 pairs of webbing loops over the instep and 4 sets of speed hooks on the leg of the boot above the flex notch and there is a “pull loop” at the back of the contoured collar.

The boots have a Hydro Guard membrane waterproof breathable lining to keep feet dry and a 200gms Thinsulate lining to keep them warm, while a removable contoured footbed is supplied for extra support and comfort.

The EVA midsole gives shock absorption while the lugged outersole not only gives great traction on most surfaces, but extends up the front of the toe to give a protective “bumper”.

I found that the Tundra Boots were nicely warm and certainly waterproof, but, surprisingly enough for a fabric boot, took quite a while to “break in” while the EVA midsole initially felt somewhat thick and destabilising.  Once fully broken in, the boots proved comfortable and supportive.

Available in sizes 7-12, the Jack Pyke Tundra Boots are lightweight (approx 1300gm size 9), warm, dry and cost around £75.00. For more information visit www.jackpyke.co.uk or call Tel. 01234 740327.
