Maxpedition Fatboy Versipack

The Maxpedition Fatboy Versipack was originally conceived as a ‘grab and go’ gear carrier for Search and Rescue work and was designed to be carried on one shoulder (the left) and hang on the right side of the body. This is much more than a durable, ergonomic shoulder sling pack; as it was designed as a state-of-the-art portable gear organizer that provides secure containment and rapid accessibility for regularly used equipment. The versatile main compartment has a huge 156 cubic inches of space with a water-resistant storm collar that can be deployed by pulling a cord-locked drawstring. An array of integral, fixed-position, external pouches, retains and indexes individual pieces of gear while two sets of nylon webbing anchors accommodate Maxpedition’s modular expansion accessories such as the CP-L Radio Holster. The front compartment is 7” x 5” x 1.5in, the main compartment is 8in x 6.5in x 3in, and there are three useful side pockets measuring 6” x 3” x 1.5”, 5” x 1.5” x 1” and 4” x 2.5” x 1”.

There’s now an ‘S-Type’ Fatboy (S for ‘Southpaw’?) which is a mirror image of the original - designed to sit on the right shoulder so the bag hangs on the left. Other major differences are that the S-Type has more modular capacity including an additional anchor attachment point where the cellphone pocket is on the standard Fatboy and a 2in wide Velcro loop patch on the front lid for attachment of ID patches. Both versions of the Fatboy come with tactile non-slip shoulder pads providing greater comfort during extended carry.

This is a really handy pack which leaves your ‘shooting shoulder’ free, even when carrying the pack. Price for either hand version is £65.95.
