Mick Wardell Parang Set
By: Pat Farey
This new expedition/bushcraft set just caught my eye recently, which is not surprising as I’ve always been a fan of Mick Wardell’s knives. This particular one is called the Wildebeeste parang, and it’s one I’ve seen before, but this particular parang is presented in a set complete with a bushcraft companion knife and matching fire-steel too, all laid out in a handmade ‘piggyback’ leather belt sheath. These sets seem to be very popular and Mick has sold them abroad to customers in Australia, Guatamala and the USA. They are also proving popular with some members of the military.
The steel is 1070 for the parang and O1 on the companion knife. Both have stainless steel loveless bolts. Prices vary depending on materials specified by the customer. The handles on this particular set are made of Coolabar burr, so the price is £650 plus p & p.
For further info on the Wildebeeste parang set or indeed any of Mick’s handmade knives, email him at wardellknives@hotmail.co.uk or give him a call on 01237 475 312.
