Nightforce NXS 3.5-15x50 F1 and NXS 2.5-10x32 Compact Scopes

Nightforce have released several new products this year, including two new scopes and the handy new ZeroStop system.

ZeroStop Technology

Nightforce’s new ZeroStop technology allows a quick and precise return to zero, no matter what: even in stressful situations and/or when the lighting is bad and you adjust your scope’s elevation settings, maybe as much as two full turns.

After sighting in your rifle, you set the ZeroStop mechanism to any one of the 400 elevation clicks; you can then make all the adjustments you wish and at any time you can return the turret to absolute zero - simply, quickly and by feel alone. This can even be done in total darkness with absolutely no need for charts or counting clicks.

Also, if you already own a Nightforce NXS 1-4x24, 2.5-10x24, 3.5-15x or 5.5-22x scope with the same configurations, it can be retrofitted to accommodate the ZeroStop Turret.

The NXS 3.5-15x50 F1 Scope

This new American made Nightforce riflescope has a reticle in the first focal plane. Initially the NXS 3.5-15x50 F1 was created at the request of U.S. military and other professional sharpshooters for a scope that is extremely fast, applicable to a wide range of targets at various distances, and offering a choice of elevation/windage click values, reticles and ballistic turrets.

A reticle located in the first focal plane will appear to change size with adjustments in magnification, but in fact it remains in the exact same ratio to the target across the scope’s entire magnification range. The first focal plane location is especially appropriate for use with rangefinding reticles, since the reticle’s markings remain consistent relative to target size at all magnification settings. This has distinct advantages when the user can expect to encounter targets at varying distances from close-in to hundreds of yards away. This design, coupled with the highly tactile and intuitive adjustments common to Nightforce products, makes for a scope that provides extremely rapid target acquisition.

The Nightforce F1 is offered with a choice of three different windage/elevation adjustments: .250 MOA, .1 Mil Radian, or 1.0 MOA elevation/.5 MOA windage.  There are two optional engraved ballistic turret caps offered (available separately); one for the 1.0/.5 MOA version specifically marked for the A-191 (.300 Win. Mag./190 gr. Sierra Match King), or for the M118LR (.308/175 gr. Sierra Match King), marked in metres.  The standard cap comes with an MOA scale, which the user can have custom engraved to match virtually any calibre once that calibre’s ballistics are established.

Nightforce patented ZeroStop technology is standard on all F1 elevation turrets, and the F1 scope is supplied with a set of Nightforce Ultralight rings.

NXS 2.5-10x32 Compact

The second of the new Nightforce scopes - the NXS 2.5-10x32 Compact, was created to answer the requests of hunters for greater low-light capability in a compact, lightweight, streamlined instrument that will not overwhelm a hunting rifle. At just 12 inches in length and weighing 19 ounces, it represents the optimum ratio of size-to-weight performance. With its exceptional clarity, resolution and advanced optical design, the 32mm objective gives the hunter and shooter even more versatility with minimal additional size and weight.

The NXS 2.5-10x32 is available with fully enclosed hunting-style turrets in .250 MOA, or exposed target-style turrets with .250 MOA, .1 Mil-Rad, or 1.0 MOA elevation/.5 MOA windage adjustments.  The target-style turrets all include Nightforce ZeroStop technology with windage limiter, allowing a quick return to absolute zero regardless of previous elevation adjustments.

“V” Ballistic Reticles

Three revolutionary new “V” ballistic reticles are also being offered to work with Nightforce 2.5-10x32 and 2.5-10x24 NXS Compacts. Designed for hunting to 600 yards, the family of reticles are based upon a common NP-1 design, but with three different configurations tailored to high, medium, and low velocity cartridges.  Virtually all common hunting calibres will adapt flawlessly to one of the three.

The ballistic reticles are designed to be sighted in at 200 yards.  Elevation lines are clearly marked in 50-yard intervals to 600 yards, including a 100-yard mark. Windage compensation is also marked in 5 and 10 MPH increments.  The simplicity of this “smart reticle” system has been proven to be up to twice as fast as traditional rangefinding reticles, and the increase in accuracy at various ranges is ultimately more humane for the game being targeted.  After the hunter has determined his rifle’s zero, there is no need for a drop chart, turret adjustments in the field, or other complicated calculations.

Bubble Level and ADI

Finally, Nightforce has introduced the Top of Ring Bubble Level, which replaces the top half of Nightforce’s Unimount, Direct Mount, and Nightforce Mil-Spec rings.  The bubble level is low profile and built directly into the top half of the ring, allowing the shooter to maintain perfectly level rifle alignment - critical at long ranges, when even a slight angle of the firearm can dramatically affect point of impact.  It also aids in precise scope mounting, providing an easy method of making certain the reticle is exactly level.

The Top of Ring Bubble Level is available by itself, with an integrally machined mount for the Nightforce ADI (Angle Degree Indicator), or as a complete system incorporating the ADI. The ADI takes the guesswork out of uphill and downhill shots.  Calibrated in degrees, the ADI gives an instant readout which can be entered directly into Nightforce ballistic software or referenced to a pre-printed angle drop chart.  The ADI is simple, robust, and requires no batteries.  It is an essential tool for the precision long-range shooter.
