Red Eye Dominance Correction

Red Eye Dominance Correction

Suffering from eye dominance can range from annoying all the way to completely ruining your shooting, the left eye taking visual control of a right-handed shooter’s vision or visa versa. The end result is a concerted miss as the muzzles appear to be in one place whilst in actual fact their positioning is nowhere near where they need to be. Likewise unless you’re able to shoot from the opposite shoulder, in an effort to correct this by blotting out the offending eye, various devices have been employed from frosted lenses, small adhesive patches all the way down to a dab of Vaseline. Yes, to a degree they all work but the downside is that as the targets vary the ‘dot’ isn’t always where it needs to be, is to large or small or if you buy new shooting glasses you have to start all over again.

But in the case of the RedEye Eye Dominance Correction Kit, it doesn’t matter how many pairs of glasses you shoot in, how big or small the ‘dot’ is that you require or whereabouts on the lens it needs to be. Brought to you by Keith Appleton, the chap who brought you the Arrow Laser Shot, a piece of shotgun alignment kit that I and any coach worth their salt wouldn’t be without, this small magnetic orange ‘dot’ kit is one of those simplistic inventions that begs the question, ‘why has nobody else thought of this’ to a degree I can foresee every decent shotgun coach ensuring they have at least one case of RedEye in their vest pocket as a matter of course.

Presented in a small plastic case complete with an integral magnetic base, a series of varying sized plastic ‘dots’ can be fitted to any glasses lens within seconds. All you do is take one of the two 8mm ‘dots’ place it on the rear of the lens and place either the corresponding 8mm, 10mm, 12mm or 16mm ‘dots’ on the front, the pair holding firm courtesy of their strong magnets, the varying sizes mean you can adjust the amount of peripheral vision available to your blocked out eye.

From there just slide the ‘dot’ to wherever you need it to be, a small soft pad meaning the lens remains unscratched. Please note though that cleaning the pads is advised to ensure any dirt they picked up during use is removed. Apart from that, if you want to try a smaller or larger ‘dot’ remove the one you’re using, place it back in the case and affix the one you prefer and once you’ve finished shooting, remove the pair and your glasses are back to normal. Put your RedEye back in the case and in your pocket ready and waiting for the next time you’re out shooting.

The RedEye Eye Correction Kit costs around £29.95p. For more information or to order yourself a set, contact Arrow Laser Shot on 01252 860913 or visit www.arrowlasershot.com and see the demos on YouTube.
