Rowan Engineering Accessories for Air Arms

The Air Arms MPR (Multi-Purpose Rifle) is a highly respected, time tested and very accurate single-shot PCP air rifle originally intended for FT/HFT.  Also it was another ‘S400’ based action option that could possibly attract the attention of airgun hunters who prefer a more FT style stock. The ‘standard’ MPR stock comes complete with a height adjustable cheekpiece, sliding rubber butt pad and an accessory rail in the forend for fitting the company’s optional Hamster or basic rifle rest bipod. Air Arms also offer a Butt Pad ‘Spacer Kit’ with four individual 10mm thick ‘plastic’ spacers. This allows lengthening the reach to pull in increments and also allows the use of the original rubber butt pad. There’s also a Butt Hook available as an optional extra. So you’d think all potential MPR owners personal preferences for adjustment of the stock at this area are well catered for… but apparently not, as Rowan Engineering began to be asked for custom butt spacer kits for these rifles. Some might think this strange but HFT shooters not only like their ‘bling’ but also know what they prefer for adjusting any rifle for optimum performance.

Rowan made a few to special order, the word spread and more were requested. This has resulted in the company now offering an ‘off the shelf’ MPR Butt Pad Spacer Kit.

The spacer is CNC machined in 6082 aluminium with aluminium spacer posts, it re-uses the original butt pad when fitted, and before ordering they advice you measure the ‘butt end’ of your rifle with the rubber butt pad removed. A diagram on the company website shows exactly where to measure the width and height. The reason for this is that the stock end face should be approximately 1mm smaller in overall height and width than the spacer plate dimensions shown in the CAD diagram on the site.

The kit contains all the necessary hardware to re-fit the existing pad plus full fitting instructions. The alloy spacer bars used in the kit are 18mm in diameter. You have the choice of ordering either a 27mm or 37mm length extension kit; the former comes with 2X 15mm long spacer bars which give you a total 27mm from end of stock wood to where the original rubber butt pad is affixed, while the latter comes with 2X 25mm spacer bars giving an extended length of 37mm. Additional spacers are also available in pairs which can easily be stacked together to increase the length of the pad spacing to suit.

To complete your stock set up, Rowan now also offer a CNC machined polished aluminium Hamster. The depth from barrel centre line to base of hamster plate is approximately140mm. It easily attaches to the underside of the stock using the factory fitted threaded bushes. A black Delrin Hamster option is also available as are trigger shoes in a variety of options.  Prices for the MPR Butt Pad Spacer Kit are from £45.95, Additional Spacers in Pairs £9.95, Hamster £58.95 and Trigger Shoe £24.55 – all prices given are for the Aluminium Options.
