Sportsmatch scope mounts and accessories

Established in 1972 Sportsmatch have established a fine reputation for scope mounts, rings and associated accessories for the airgun and firearms markets. What I have here is the ATP61 2-Piece Extra High Adjustable, made to solve the problem of a scope running out of elevation or height. Usually if you need to alter elevation or height it’s a one piece unit. However, with many shooters now using big objective lens and 30mm body tubes a two-piece mount is needed to bridge over a protruding magazine, yet still give as much required alteration in height and elevation both front and rear.

Lock-Up

There are two locking-screws, set directly above the base mount screws on the opposite side. At the bottom, in the middle is a recessed adjuster grub screw. The layout is the same for both, if a recoil arrestor pin isn’t needed, detach base from cradle mount and remove. Fit mounts and scope to the rifle in the usual way and check the locking screws are securely tightened.

Place a target at approximately 25-yds, then shoot a group. Measure the vertical distance from the aiming point. To correct elevation loosen the locking screws on front and rear mount using the 2.5mm Allen key supplied. Turn adjuster screw clockwise to lift the rear of the scope using the 2mm Allen key supplied. One quarter turn = approximately 22mm at the set zero, then relock all fixings.

To lower rear of scope undo locking screws and push down firmly on top rear mount cradle and turn adjuster screw anti-clockwise as required. When on zero, carefully retighten locking screws.
Both front and rear mount adjusters can be used to lift the scope evenly if required. Maximum adjustment is 2 turns which = 1.3mm of full adjustment.

High Spirits

story continues below...

Spirit Levels; FT boys use them, some hunters do too. The only problem is for the bridge over mount design it’s not always possible or practical to keep bobbing your head up to look at the bubble. A previous design the SP4 Spirit level kit screwed into the open threads on any of their base mounts and proved useful. They’ve now developed the SP3, a swing-out spirit level that fits all 1” and 30mm mounts.

Consisting of a base screw with notches across the top centre for securing down, this acts as a pivot post come replacement cradle grub screw. This obviously also allows you to position the level that suits. One end of the SP3 is held on a 3/8” long hollow pillar with an internal spring. Using the longer hex head screw supplied, you then screw it down through the spring and nip up to secure, but don’t over-tighten so the spring allows it to be folded out when required.

When not needed, bring it back to lie flush and out of harm’s way. When deployed I only need to glance to the right and I know no ‘cant’ error will be effecting the shot no matter how awkward the angle of fire is.
