Trojan Holdall

Trojan Holdall

Measuring some 70 x 35 x 28cm, the huge main compartment of the Trojan has a double-pullered zip closure that runs around 3 sides of the lid for ease of access, and bound internal seams for durability. On top of the lid are two pockets, each approx 21 x 25 x 5cm, again with double-pullered zips running around 3 sides.

On the front of the main compartment are 2 more pockets, both approx 26 x 27 x 5cm with inverted U-shaped zip closures, again with double pullers.  On the front of these pockets are more pockets, approx 26 x 20cm with a pleated expansion feature and a fully adjustable side release buckle closure on their “pocket flap” top.  On this flap there is a strip of webbing sewn to form a row of “cartridge loop” type attachment points which are ideal for attaching modular or “molle” type extra pouches (if you really need extra space!) or clipping extra kit onto.  Each end of the Trojan has a pocket approx 20 x 26 x 20 cm, again with inverted “U” double-pullered zips, but this time with a 26 x 20cm straight zip closed mesh “organiser pocket” on the front.

There are double carry straps with a Velcro closed grip to join them, and a fully adjustable webbing shoulder strap which clips onto medal D-rings on the ends of the holdall.  The webbing that holds the D-rings extends all the way under the Trojan for strength, while the shoulder strap has a comfortable shoulder pad to help spread the load.

During the testing, the Trojan Holdall proved a practical and durable option for carrying bulky loads, and the pockets were very useful in helping keep kit organised.  The waterproof 6000D polyester fabric used in the holdall’s construction is very tough and the finish on the bag is very good, though I wonder what weight the clips and D-rings of the shoulder strap are rated to.  It would be easy to load the 95 litre capacity Trojan Holdall to hernia-inducing weights!

With its tough construction, multitude of pockets and titanic capacity, the Trojan Holdall should appeal to anyone with bulky loads to carry and it is available in olive green or Jack Pyke’s exclusive signature “English Oak” cammo, for around £35.

If this holdall seems a bit big for you, Jack Pyke also produce a smaller (75 litre capacity) holdall with 3 external pockets, all with mesh organizer pockets on their fronts, and an extra organiser pocket on the lid, for around £30.
