Viper Tactical Fleece

The Viper Tactical Fleece Jacket is a lightweight, mid-layer jacket made from 250gms polyester “grid fleece” that is surprisingly warm for its weight, and very easy to wear.

With a slim, athletic type cut (as opposed to my more chunky build) the jacket has a long fit with raglan sleeves and generous underarm gussets for superb freedom of movement without any baggy surplus fabric.  I had to go one size up from my normal choice to get a good body fit, which made the sleeve a little long – but this allows me to pull the elasticated cuffs over my hands for extra protection.

The jacket has a full length chunky zip closure with a face guard and zip “garage” at the collar.  There are 5 pockets, one on each arm, twin lower hand warmer pockets and one on the left chest, all with coil zip closures with hidden teeth.  All the pockets have zip pull extenders with easy-to-grip ergonomic tabs.

The whole of the front of the jacket is mesh lined and this lining forms the back of the pockets as well as adding warmth to the jacket and allowing good ventilation (to prevent over-heating) if you leave the pocket zips open.  The hem has twin, one-handed, cord lock side adjusters on the elasticated hem drawcord.

The lower pockets are generously sized and comfortably positioned for ease of access, the 15cm long zips being angled, while the 13cm long chest pocket zip is vertical.

The sleeve pockets are both approximately 13cm x 21cm with a 13cm vertical zip, have a mesh lining under the facing fabric, and also have a 10cm x 12cm Velcro type “fur” patch for tac patches etc mounted over the pocket.

The Viper Tactical Fleece Jacket is low bulk and only weighs about 850gm in size XXL, yet is warm to wear, quick drying and non-restrictive.  The quality of the design and construction of the jacket is good and it is a very comfortable mid-layer garment.
