Entries for Crufts 2017 are now open
  • The UK’s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), will once again host the gamekeepers’ classes at Crufts 2017. The competitions, which are open to gamekeepers, owners of working gundogs, gundog teams and young handlers, held on Gundog Day, Saturday 11 March 2017, at the NEC in Birmingham. The BASC gamekeepers’ classes are unique to Crufts because they give handlers the opportunity to show working gundogs at their best.

  • The top individual dogs will go head-to-head in a final show in the main arena for the 'Best in Gamekeeping Class' title - and the chance to win the Northesk Memorial Trophy. Alex Farrell, one of BASC’s game and gamekeeping officers, said: “Crufts is the biggest dog show in the world and BASC’s rings at Crufts allow us to provide a showcase for visitors to see the best of the working dogs in action.”

  • Ian Grindy, the chairman of BASC’s game and gameshooting committee, said: “We’re all really looking forward to another successful year at Crufts. I would encourage anyone with a working dog to come and enter the BASC gamekeepers’ classes. The BASC game and deer team look forward to welcoming you.” Visit https://basc.org.uk/gundogs/basc-at-crufts/crufts-schedule-and-entry-form-2017/ to enter your dog. The closing date for paper entry forms is Monday 9 January 2017.

  • Entries for ALL the BASC Gamekeeping Classes must be accompanied by a signed declaration which is on the back of the entry form. The BASC gundog programme is sponsored by Chudleys.
