Ruike P381-SF Lock Knife

Myfenix, the UK Fenixlight torch distributors, have recently added Ruike Knives to their range of high quality outdoor kit and I have been impressed by the Ruike P831-SF lock knife that I have been trying out. The stylish good looks, the crisp machining, solid construction, the fine ‘fit and finish’ and comfort in the hand all go to make this knife a pleasure to use, while the size and style of the blade make it a very serviceable tool in the woods.

 

 

The blade takes and holds an excellent edge and is simple to re-hone, after use, to the shaving sharp edge it comes with. The spine of the knife is sharp enough to get showers of sparks from a firesteel. The blade locks out with a frame lock, and to be super sure that the frame lock does not move in use, it is backed up with a ‘Beta’ lock (a simple slide button) that locks the lock!

 

The back of the handle features a strong pocket clip and those of you who have read my reviews over the years will know that this is not one of my favourite features on a knife, but I found the positioning of this clip did not prove as uncomfortable for long periods of using the knife as I had thought it might. I am sure that the clip could easily be removed if necessary, but I have not felt the need to do so.

 

Light enough at 93g not to be obtrusive, yet strong enough and practical enough for some pretty heavy usage, the Ruike P831-SF model has proved very useful for a wide range of bushcraft applications, from whittling to food prep and has been easy to clean, comfortable to use and a good ‘companion’ to my heavy use tools and equipment.
