Mora Craftline series

Mora Craftline series

Moonraker Accessories have recently started to import Mora knives from Sweden. One glance will tell you that these utilitarian knives have their roots in the products of Frosts and KJ Eriksson – who have combined to form Mora of Sweden.

story continues below...

Offering everything from traditional birchwood handled skinners to ice drills for Arctic fishing, Mora have a wide range of sporting knives. However, the first ones that we have seen ‘in the flesh’ are from the Mora Craftline series – a range of honest to goodness working knives from a country where Government Ministers don’t faint at the thought of honest citizens carrying the most basic of all tools to help them do their job.

There are six knives available, which appear to have colour coded plastic pommels and guards - presumably for recognising which version it is (if you have more than one) before you take it out of its scabbard. The six blade types are;
1.Allround (maroon); as the name suggests, a versatile 100mm (2.5mm thick) utility blade
2.Punch (purple): a short slim 68mm blade (2.0mm thick) for fine work and hole making
3.Flex (blue); a thin (1.4mm) 90mm flexible blade for intricate cutting
4.Electrician (yellow); a stubby 44mm sheepfoot blade for working with wiring
5.Rope (orange); similar to the Allround model but with a serrated 100mm blade for working with rope, canvas, fabric etc.
6.Chisel (green); A 78mm blade (2.5mm thick) with a double chisel grind (bevelled both sides) to one edge and front

All the knives have Sandvik 12c27 stainless steel blades and ‘grippy’ ergonomic moulded synthetic handles. Each comes in a Scandinavian deep carry belt scabbard made out of opaque plastic (except the Allround which has a colour coded maroon scabbard). For hunting or utility purposes the Allround or Rope will probably be the most popular models with the shooting fraternity, and at under £12 each they are an absolute bargain.
