Gerber Suspension NXT

Manufactured using an all stainless-steel build, Gerber’s Suspension NXT is a butterfly opener which measures 3.75-inches closed, 6½-inches in the open position and weighs approximately 7oz. When opened out, it reveals a pair of spring-loaded needlenose pliers, regular pliers, hard wire and stranded wire cutters.

The outboard tools are accessed when the tool is in the closed position and deploy using an eclectic mix of elongated thumbholes, thumb nicks or raised hubs. These include a 2¼-inch long part serrated/fine edge knife blade, bottle opener, can opener, small, medium, large flat head screwdrivers, awl, file, Philips head (extended reach) screwdriver, and a set of sprung Fiskars scissors.

All tools lock out in the open position with Gerber’s patented Saf. T. Plus™ mechanism that’s amongst one of the safest for reliable and dependable use when any tool is deployed. To unlock the mech, you slide back the serrated edge ‘narrow bar’ shape catch (positioned adjacent to the attachment point of the removable pocket clip, these are duplicated on the opposite side) and the deployed tool chosen can then be folded back into the handle.

Although there are other Gerber multi-tools that have similar components to offer, the Suspension NXT™ is unique due to it factoring in the ability to be highly portable and quite discreet. However, though the trimmer profiles of the tools plus open frame design reduce weight, rest assured they do so without sacrificing strength or functional integrity. Another bonus of the design is it’s very easy to clean.
