A low cut, ankle height boot, the Vasque Summit GTX is a 2.6mm thick full grain leather boot that combines a 100% Gore Tex lining into its design. Add to this a decent, cushioned ankle support, a dual density last that forms quickly to the feet, smooth lacing that maintains the required tension without allowing the boot to become unfastened, easy to put on and take off due to the capacious bellows tongue and you’re into a pair of boots that’ll serve you well no matter what the rural task. Light enough in weight at just over 3lbs and constructed for all weathers and applications, the Summit’s are further enhanced by the inclusion of the Vibram Summit sole manufactured exclusively for Vasque, with unusual looking cleats, twisting and moulding to the contours of each individual surface either course, smooth or slick with moss.
I’ve now been wearing a pair of Summit GTX for the past four months as both everyday country wear for walking, clay and vermin shooting and the occasional outing on the quad. What I would say is that you will need to wear them once or twice before they’ve fully taken to your feet. After that they’ll become your first choice whenever heading out into the great outdoors.
Available in men’s sizes 5 – 11 and 6 – 10 in ladies, the Vasque Summit GTX retail for a very reasonable £150 a pair and at an even more frugal £125 for the Nubuck versions.
