Jack Pyke Fleece Gilet Range

Jack Pyke Fleece Gilet Range

Last year, Jack Pyke brought us the Sherpa Fleece Jacket and Sherpa Fleece Hoodie. Such was their success, they’ve now complemented the range with three Gilets and even a Sherpa Fleece Dog Coat! However, it’s the Gilets I’m detailing here and although the trio have a similar design, they’re made for specific purposes and age groups.

Attributes & usage

Sherpa is made from a stretch polyester fabric that has a textured look and at times is superior to other fleece types, being warmer and soft to the touch. The outer of the garment is a deep pile fleece and all garments in this range are manufactured from 300g polyester fleece. However, they’re still quite lightweight, don’t restrict movement and are very comfortable to wear, aided by the soft fleece-like nylon lining that offers extra comfort.

Build similarities

All have full-length double zippers with pull assist for easy access and temperature control. They have extra high necks, plus an elasticated internal cord hemline with toggle adjusters for a snug fit to ensure no draughts can enter.

Sherpa fleece also lines the inner necks and storage is catered for by 2x lined lower-side zipped pockets with pull assists. Internal lower-side contrast panels give added strength and durability in these key areas, plus extra breathability.

Man size

story continues below...

The Jack Pyke Sherpa Fleece Gilet has contrasting flat-face polyester material sensibly proportioned over the shoulders for durability, making it a very stylish and versatile garment. It is available in sizes S-3XL.

The Junior Sherpa Fleece Gilet boasts the same features but is obviously designed for young outdoor enthusiasts. It omits the contrasting shoulder panels but features Nubuck piping at the front, around the arm holes, and the neck, making it ideal for any young outdoor adventurer. It’s available in sizes 3XS-XL.

Substantially yours

The Jack Pyke Countryman Chunky Fleece Gilet doesn’t bear the ‘Sherpa’ denotation but is manufactured from the same material, so deserves its place in this round-up. It’s a much more substantial garment due to the deeper, thickset pile fleece used in the build, which results in the pile trapping more warm air and giving added protection, resulting in the best thermal properties of the trio. So much so that it can be worn as an outer layer on even the coldest of days, and when undertaking cold-weather jobs that require unrestricted freedom of movement. Like the Junior, it also features Nubuck piping on either side of the zip, around the arms, and the top of the neck. It’s available in sizes S-3XL.

Conclusions

Gilets are one of the most useful items of outdoor wear for those out and about when the weather turns colder. The three here are high in quality, very comfortable to wear, and very versatile.
