Softshell jackets are ideal for inclement weather, and light fleeces give added warmth, so attire that combines both can be very useful throughout the seasons.
This trio of ShooterKing reversible softshell jackets with fleece linings, are designed to be convenient and suitable for the times you do and don’t require a camo outer. In fact, the camo design for most hunters will be a deciding factor. However, certain versions have different pocket layouts, so this will also possibly sway you one way or another.
All have a 100% polyester shell and trim (camo side) plus a brown coloured, soft polyester fleece inner (or outer depending on how they’re worn). They use the company’s acclaimed Shoottex membrane, making them highly waterproof, fully windproof, breathable and lightweight. They also feature strong YKK waterproof zips on the pockets, which also feature zip hoods to prevent water ingress. They have heavy-duty, front double YKK zip openings with pull assists, toggle adjust elasticated hemlines and elasticated cuffs with thumb loops, plus all have reflective strip trims on the camo side.
First up is the Digitex Softshell. As the name implies it uses ShooterKing’s own Digitex Camouflage. This is a nonterrain specific camo and is suitable for forest or field.
Storage is catered for by 8x zipped pockets configured as 2x upper and 2x lower pockets – a configuration that’s duplicated when the jacket is reversed. Another plus point is these pockets are accessible from both sides. It’s also available in Blaze Camo.
Next up is the Woodlands (Prym1 Camo) Softshell Jacket which follows the same reversible design brief but with more storage options, plus specific features hunters will find useful.
This garment has a total of 10x zipped pockets and the 2x upper pockets show dedicated rubber radio/audio ports. The pockets are configured as 5x per side and have mesh linings (except the arm pocket which has dual access), meaning contents stored in the main pockets can only be accessed from the side you are wearing.
The Mossy Softshell Jacket offers two wearable options: a unique Mossy Oak New Break Up design camouflage print for increased cover and blending in woodland environments, and a plain brown lining for everyday wear.
The pocket configuration is different on the outside to the inside but only by way of the opening. The 2x top pockets in camo guise have vertical zips, but when reversed the same pockets have horizontal zip access. However, wearers can also make full use of all the jackets 8x pockets, which allow you fast-access to contents stored, due to their dual lining access. This means there’s no need to swap over the jacket’s contents when changing sides. It also features a zipped upper arm pocket.
ShooterKing impresses with a range of softshell jackets that can be worn for hunting or as leisurewear.
