Webtex Chest Rig

Treasure Chest!

Chest rigs are an ideal way of carrying extra kit into the field. The rig I built up from Webtex’s Multicam range was for airgun hunting use, and I feel it illustrates what you can use for extra stowage without hindering movement. Also this is easily the best value for money kit in this relatively new ‘digitalized camo’ pattern.

Modular Connection
The system uses various PLCE pouches that fit onto any compatible Chest Harness, but keeping this all Webtex based, I used the PLCE Standard ‘MC’ Yoke, ‘MC’ Hip Pad and PLCE Belt (Olive).

For stowage you can choose from a host of accessories/pouches that fit onto the ‘belt’ using the PLCE system. On the rig shown I chose to attach the Treble Utility Pouch, Trauma Pouch, First Aid Pack and Knife Pouch. For longer sessions in summer, I’d recommend you attach the Aquatex Hydration Pack on the rear. This is a 2 ltr capacity, wide mouth TPU water bladder; the shoulder straps slide down the front of the Yoke shoulder straps and also has a useful adjustable sternum strap, Multiple D-ring attachment points and if crawling or moving through dirty terrain it utilises a detachable ‘covered’ tap system.

All kit is manufactured using Crye 1000D Multicam Cordura. Pouches in the range mostly feature quick release ABS snap buckle openings and are compatible with the ALICE/ MOLLE system for attachment. The Hip Pad has a multitude of clip fastened belt loops – ideal support for the pouches and also for leaning/ lying prone to one side or the other as it’s so well padded.

Web-Tex also produce single and double magazine pouches, and when I last had a look at the Multicam area of Thatchreed’s website it showed 20+ products and growing.

That means there’s a comprehensive range of accessories already. Every individual will have their own preference as to what suits them best for their chosen discipline. But with so many pouches plus other handy compatible accessories and configurations to fit them, many feel that Web-tex Multicam kit rules the roost… especially at these prices.

The Chest Rig/ Harness shown was built up using the following; Web-tex Yoke £17.95, Hip Pad £25.95, PLCE Belt £16.95, Treble Utility Pouch £37.95, Trauma Pouch £27.95, First Aid Pack £13.95, Aquatex Hydration Pack £65, Utility Roll Pouch (fits neatly inside the Trauma Pouch) £12.95, and Knife Pouch £5.95
