Ranger 7 Chameleon Backpack

Ranger 7 Chameleon Backpack

It’s no secret that I like the Ranger series of backpacks from Napier of London, and the Ranger 7 Chameleon is one of the most versatile and cleverly designed pieces of luggage for hunters. The uniqueness of the ‘Chameleon’ is that the main ‘larger’ top section actually sits on top of a base bag that can be fully removed if and when required. In its entirety, The Chameleon has an overall capacity of 36 litres – the main pack’s semi-clam shell design opening fastens by a two way zip system. Extra stowage can be found on either side, one being an open top elasticised net pouch, the other is a drawstring top bottle or small thermos flask carrier. The main compartments zip opening is strengthened by four adjustable compression straps.

Even more stowage is catered for on the larger pack, these being a flat opening outer pocket with a full sized net cargo carrier and six elasticised small accessory holders.

The pack is manufactured from a conventional NATEX Green Polyester material that is waterproofed and very hard-wearing. The Chameleon really can change its colours as it can be transformed into a camo pack by deploying the built in Realtree Hardwoods® cover. This is neatly stored in a zip open pouch at the top and when deployed completely covers the back and sides of the pack. An elasticised outer hem holds it firmly in position. Incidentally, you can fit an optional Blaze Orange cloak if needed which in some countries is required by law.

Base Bag

The fully removable 11.5 litre lower base bag is padded, fully insulated and washable, making it ideal for holding food items. It’s also roomy enough to carry a large SLR camera plus extra lens. But leave it empty if you think you might need to store wet socks and the like.

Due to the clever design, even when still attached to the main pack you can access anything stored inside the base bag. Inside the top of the bag is a waterproofed reinforced zip pocket, the front positioned external flat opening compartment has a large reinforced waterproof section and two ‘see thru’ zipped pockets. Also there are two roomy zipped accessory pockets positioned on each side and it can be carried using its own the removable/adjustable carrying strap.

The Ranger 7 Chameleon Backpack is priced at £109.95.
