From the same company that brought us the Jahtijakt Camo Membrane suit, comes the Pro Membrane suit. Both jacket and trousers use the same ‘Air-Tex 2’ membrane that offers waterproof, windproof and breathable abilities. All seams are tape sealed and the garments are treated with a dirt and water repellent Dupont Teflon coating. To save on repetition later, both have mesh linings and the same outer shell, except the jacket has more padding and the storm collar has a comfortable ribbed suede inner.
An optional ‘bonus pack’ includes MicroDry underwear. The MicroDry Top is warm enough to wear alone under the jacket. The Oxford Fleece Jacket is similar, as that can be worn as a mid-layer or as a stand-alone garment. This shows ample pockets and a full zip front with elasticated wrists. The upper section has a nylon outer that extends from the top third up to and including the high, stand up collar.
Pockets and Other Features
The trousers only have three pockets - two front and a cargo on the right leg with flap/press stud closure, all are lined. To aid heat regulation, there’s zipped, vertical air vents at the side and just rear of the hand warmer pockets. The lower section of each leg has a Velcro strap to cinch around your boots. The high waistband is partially elasticated with belt loops and buttons for braces. Closure is by a zip fly and Velcro, which allows for easy adjustment. The cut is generous, while comfort and protection from the elements is high.
The jacket boasts two large cargo pockets at the front with press stud/flaps for security with lined, pass-through slots behind. Above these are two zipped pockets and two more above them. It also features underarm ventilation.
On the inside there are two lower open pockets and on the left inner breast a zip closure pocket that’s got an extra layer of waterproofing, so ideal for documents such as your FAC etc. There’s a roomy, detachable, peaked and wired hood with 3-position toggle and adjustable drawstrings. In the warmer weather you can swap this for a mosquito net.
Closure is by an all-weather, double YKK zipper with studded, storm flap. Cuffs are elasticated and have adjustable, Velcro, fasteners. The one-size fits all baseball cap with earflaps that came in the bonus pack is waterproof and reversible to show a blaze orange side to match the included safety vest.
I can find absolutely no fault with this package; the build is impressive, as is overall quality and features. If camo isn’t your primary concern but protection from the elements and comfort is then the Jahtijakt Pro Membrane Suit is definitely a hard act to follow especially considering the ‘bonus pack’ and optional extras you can purchase that don’t come included. Superb!
The Jahtijakt Pro Membrane Suit costs £189.95 including bonus pack. Optional extras are: Braces £25.50 and Fingerless Gloves with Thinsulate lining £14.50.
