Universal Tactical Clip

Universal Tactical Clip

Let’s face it slings of many designs have been with us ever since someone started carrying a rifle, be it for hunting or for tactical use. Over the years we’ve seen one, two, and three point slings and everyone has their opinion as to what they like best, and why.

It’s hard to see where sling design could be improved upon, although many strive to do so, but sometimes it takes an individual to think “outside the box” to come up with something truly innovative. In my opinion the Tactical Universal Clip (TUC) is certainly that!

MOLLE Compatible

story continues below...

When it comes to airsoft most of us will wear some type of MOLLE vest or a chest rig at the very least to carry magazines, and the TUC attaches directly to your gear, taking the weight of your rifle off your neck and shoulders and distributing it across your load bearing gear. It’s a truly ambidextrous design that works with the AR/M4 buffer tube by way of an attachment pin that mates with a specially designed slotted plate which fixes solidly to your gear. It eliminates the need for a sling or strap altogether when carrying a rifle or shotgun with a sliding stock tube.

This in turn provides you with more freedom of movement when carrying a rifle or shotgun, and allows you to quickly engage a target in one swift motion without the rifle tangling on your body or gear. It allows the user to attach the rifle in a low ready position without the use of shoulder straps so you’re always “good to go”, even able to take a shot whilst the rifle is still attached to the plate.

Field Trial

I’ve been testing this neat bit of gear out for about a month now, and have been very impressed at the performance. Initially I was concerned about retention as the plate which attaches to your gear is open topped, but not even a few star jumps (not too many!) have managed to dislodge the rifle once it’s secured; similarly running, jumping and crouching have failed to jerk the rifle free from the attachment.

Now the TUC might not be to everyone’s taste, and at £59.99 is certainly not the cheapest “carry option” out there, but it certainly is a new innovation in tactical firearms carry and retention, and I’m looking forward to working with it more in the coming months, as it does suit my personal style of shooting.
