A scarce double Barrelled Tap-Action Flintlock Pistol, made by Conway of Newcastle, circa 1817-1820. William Conway had a workshop circa 1817-1828. Both side plates engraved with a stand of arms and the maker's name CONWAY to one side and NEWCASTLE to the other side. Plain flat sided walnut grips, both 1.5 inch barrels screw off. Floral decoration engraved on the trigger guard. The breech stamped with two proof marks. Good condition and in working order. Overall length 6.5 inches. A nice example of the type of double barrelled pistol carried for personal protection at the end of the 18th century. Ref 9392.
