Engraved on the 3.5 inch barrel D. Moore & Co. N.Y. Daniel Moore, who was born in New York City on April 26, 1813. In 1851 he started a firearms business in Brooklyn. Before the Civil War, Daniel Moore was a captain in a crack militia unit called the Baxter Blues and lieutenant colonel of the 12th Regiment, New York State Militia. On November 30, 1861, he incorporated Moore’s Patent Fire Arms Company, described as a manufacturer of all types of firearms. This derringer is in well used condition showing signs of normal use and wear. Action in working order. Overall length 6 inches. Ref 2032.
