Mauser Military Rifles

Mauser was making rifles long before the standard Gew 98 appeared and the author explains the origins of the rifle from this period. Mauser rifles were used during the Boer War in South Africa and the Boxer Rebellion in China and the list of those countries whose armies used the weapons is like a test in geography. The Gew 98 was used in all theatres during WWII and after the war it continued to be used by many countries. Mauser developed automatic rifles and variants of the Gew 98 for parachute troops.
