Out of Nowhere Book

By: Pat Farey

First published in 2004 this re-issued work shows the level of interest readers have for the subject of military sniping.

This book covers more than 500 years of shooting at long-range targets to culminate in the use of modern sniping weapons and techniques. For this reviewer the early history proved fascinating history, not that modern sniping is uninteresting, but because it is not so widely written about.

tt is good to see this book reissued for the benefit of anyone who missed it the first time round. There are, of course, the usual accounts of Vasiliy Zaitsev but the episode of American Sergeant Alvin York in the First World War is tantalisingly all too short. This is a good book to have on the shelf for all shooters.
