The combat history of the Sherman tank in Europe has been well-documented from Normandy to the Rhine. For D-Day there was only one amphibious landing to organise, but in the Pacific there were many such landings and each one was unique. The distances involved were huge and exceeded anything experienced in Europe.

Each landing is covered from Taupota in October 1943 to the last on Okinawa in April 1945. On this landing the USMC deployed 800 tanks against which the Japanese had only 30 tanks.
