Special Operations South-East Asia 1942-1945

This was first published in 1956 and was written in a no frills style; a book for men, about men in war.

story continues below...

It covers a period in late 1942, at a time when the British army in North Africa was fighting with its only Allies in the area at the time, including Australian, French, Poles, Indians and New Zealanders. In other words, before the Anglo-American landings with Operation Torch. It is another book on the LRDG, but this shows just what a formidable fighting force it was, considering its small size. This tells the story of one of the raids called ‘Operation Agreement’ to blow up fuel supplies at Tobruk. It recounts how the men faced death on an almost daily basis and how things did not always go right. Firefights against Germans, being taken prisoner and survival is all here and all real.
