The Illustrated History of World War I

This book, which is a reprint from 2001, is not heavyweight and its structure is geared more to those seeking an introduction into a very complicated war. Incidents leading up to the outbreak of war are highlighted and thereafter each aspect is dealt with in turn. It is sufficiently instructive to present an informative read and yet not be too technical so as to baffle.

This makes it an ideal book for someone who is interested in learning more about the war but does not want to be weighed down by heavier works. All dimensions of the war, land, sea, air and even subterranean, are covered in turn.

As complete histories go, this is one of the better titles and will either suffice or inspire readers to seek out more in-depth titles for more information.
