The War and Peace Show 2011 (DVD)

By: Pat Farey

This is the first time W&P has been filmed by Videolines but Ken Roberts, the man behind the camera, is a familiar figure to re-enactors and vehicles from filming at other events.

He has done a very good job and has captured dramatic action scenes of battle re-enactment and vehicle movement. He goes up in a helicopter to show the vast expanse of the show and down on the ground he gets in among things to put the viewer there. Speaking to a camera whilst being filmed can make some people feel self-conscious and although this happens here, the interviewees still manage to convey the interest in being either a collector or vehicle owner. The film covers all aspects of the show and presents a good balance between vehicles, battle re-enactment and collecting militaria. For someone who has not been to the show this will make them want to visit and for those who go there every year this is a good souvenir for your collection of memories.
