Tanks: A Century of Warfare

Tanks: A Century of Warfare

story continues below...

The Casemate Short History series already has a wide selection of subjects in its range, and this one takes on a mighty slice of history to examine one of the most innovative technological advances to be deployed on the battlefield. The tank has been used in war for 100-years and in the space of 160 pages the authors take the history from its very beginnings through to the early years of the 21st Century. They do it well and in doing so they cover battles, figures, such as Rommel, and milestone developments, such as the Tiger, Sherman and T34. To achieve this, they have had to sidestep going into too much technical detail and development, but the essentials are all here. Like the other titles in the series, this an introduction into the subject and, like the others, it serves to whet the reader’s appetite and steer them on to bigger and bolder reading matter on the subject. This is a book for students and they will enjoy it as a slice of military history, which could open a whole new interest and understanding for them.
