US Soldier vs Chinese Soldier

US Soldier vs Chinese Soldier

story continues below...

The Korean War (1951-1953) saw 23 member states of the nascent United Nations pitted against the North Korean army, with backing from China and Russia. On paper, the odds looked overwhelmingly in North Korea’s favour and the UN only stabilised the situation after several initial setbacks. This work explains the structure of the US forces as they faced off the North Korean and Chinese forces, along with their respective weapons, tactics and logistics. Three main actions, including Pork Chop Hill, form the basis on which the abilities of US and Chinese forces are appraised. The number of troops involved is staggering and coming so soon after WWII, the weight of supplies sent to support South Korea and the UN forces could only have been achieved by America. This book is an excellent introduction to readers who may not know much about this war and, for those who do, it will add to their understanding.
