Walther has made a huge impact with many of its air rifles. First, the spring-powered LGV/LGU range, then the PCP Rotex RM8 variants and more recently with the very appealing, Walther Reign bullpup. However, it’s the Rotex family that are the mainstay of the range. There’s a model with wood stock, a synthetic ‘Varmint’ and the latest, Rotex RM8 Varmint UC (Ultra Carbine).
The relevance here is the UC comes supplied with the Umarex K3 Neo Silencer, a compact can that’s recently been added to the company’s product roster as a standalone accessory. This is good news for airgun shooters, due to this allaluminium mod showing its effectiveness on a variety of sub 12 ft/lbs airguns in either .177 or .22 calibre.
Measuring 140mm in length, 32mm in diameter and weighing 151-grams, the outer casing has a matte black anodised finish, meaning no quarry alerting shine when screwed onto a springer or PCP. The heavysensible dimensions and low weight make it unobtrusive. It doesn’t add any unnecessary forward weighting and therefore won’t affect the balance or handling of your rifle.
With a ½” x 20 UNF female thread, it will suit the majority of screw cut muzzles. Its sound-reducing qualities are a result of three internal chambers that hold baffles, plus two vent holes can clearly be seen in the front face, to help dissipate exiting air.
