Britannia Picatinny Rails

I have recently bought my first Tikka, which is a T1x MTR in .22 LR and I’m very happy with it. However, there were a few things I wanted to change to make it more shooter-suitable. One of these was the integral, 11mm receiver dovetail, fine as there are plenty of ring sets to suit, however, a Picatinny rail seemed the best choice, as it makes mounting optics more versatile and practical.

CSW

I found a brand called Britannia Rails which is distributed by Country Sports Wholesale (CSW) and they had what I wanted, well for that matter everyone else too: Anschutz, Bergara, Blaser, Browning, CZ, Howa, Lithgow, Marlin, Mauser, Remington, Ruger, Sako, Sauer, Savage, Tikka and Weihrauch. Plus, universal and gunsmith types.

Options include 0,10 & 20 MOA and extended types, I picked the 0 MOA. Made of aluminium, it’s 5.5” long with 5.2mm slot spacings and comes with four fitting screws and Vibra-Tite, antivibration thread lock fluid. Fitting is simple, all you need is a T15 Torx driver and the job takes seconds. It has transformed optical mounting possibilities on my T1x.

This was my first encounter with Britannia Rails, but not my last, as I note they do a Blaser R8 rail that replaces the standard rings on their QD mount. If you want to see what else I’ve done to my Tikka, then check out my videos on Gun Mart TV!
