Zippo Canvas Bag

I am a big fan of the classic canvas and leather look, and this new limited edition range of bags from Zippo really caught my eye. I particularly like the look of the snappily named ‘brown canvas bag’ which seemed to be ideal as a general-use field bag of classic style and appearance.

Made from a tough brown canvas with leather detailing and straps, a soft webbing shoulder strap that is both fully adjustable, and boasting a moveable canvas and leather shoulder pad, the Zippo Brown Canvas Bag has ‘antique bronze’ metal work for a stylish look, combined with practicality. The Zippo logo is on a canvas patch on the lid and the construction of the bag is of top-quality and will look good in the fields and woods as well as the city streets.

The main part of the bag measures approx. 33x27x9cm and has a security pocket, approx. 20x11x2.5cm which closes with a brass zip set into the lighter-weight lining.

On the outside front of the bag there is twin, open-topped pockets approx. 10x17x2.5cm and on each end of the bag are pockets some 9x12x2.5cm.

The end pockets are secured by leather straps which come over the open tops and thread through leather tabs, while the front pockets are given some security by having the lid closure straps fasten over them. When the bag is less than bulging full, the lid covers the tops of the front pockets.

Flaming Good

The lid is lined with the same lightweight, but pretty tough, fabric as the main part of the bag and is closed with two leather straps that come right over the lid, through tabs by its front edge and fasten with strong press studs onto the faces of the front pockets.

The buckles on the straps adjust the length of the closure, but are not the primary fastening and allow you to tuck kit, such as waterproofs, under the straps, or to tuck items on top of a bulging main compartment, but under the flap.

The Zippo Brown Canvas Bag has proven to be a good size for a field bag, carrying all I need for a day out enjoying the countryside, while I am sure that the bag will look even better and more stylish as it ages with use.

Well-made, goodlooking, well-featured, well-sized, the Zippo Brown Canvas Bag is becoming one of my favourite bits of kit and it is reasonably priced at around £35.00.
