Allen Rifle Slings

Allen Rifle Slings

Allen Company Inc. has a long history of making shooting accessories in the USA and now they are set to be available in the UK through importers and distributors, Highland Outdoors.  who came to this country from their own native land of New Zealand to give Nikko Stirling

The first kit to come in will be Allen’s top quality rifle slings, which have features such as strong Nylon webbing, ABS slide buckles for adjustment and quick detachable metal swivels.

What sets most of these slings apart is that the lower ‘main strap’ adjusts to fit your physique for carrying the rifle. All the slings have thumb straps except the most basic Endura.

I’ve cherry picked a few of the top Allen slings that are already selling well here in the UK. I chose them as in my opinion they are the most practical and each offers something to interest specific hunting disciplines.

The Choice

If you are looking for a budget priced sling then look no further than the ‘Endura’, which at around £15 is a good buy. It looks fine and is extremely comfortable. This sling has a full 12” run of 2 ½” wide shoulder padding under hard wearing Cordura which tapers at both ends into the Nylon/Cordura webbing. It also features a non-slip back that moulds into your shoulder for a high level of wearer comfort.

Next up is the ‘Cascade’ at £25.  This 44” long sling has a stretchy 2 ½” wide Neoprene shoulder strap which is 10” long and features Realtree AP HD camo pattern frontage complete with strong double stitched side trim. On the back of the pad is a dot grip design for a non-slip carry.

The High Country Rifle Sling just takes it for me, as though similar to the Cascade at 44” long, the 15” shoulder pad isn’t Neoprene but instead has what the maker calls ‘multi-cushion comfort’ with a grippy non-slip back. In fact, this sling is one of the best I’ve used for the rifle being held firmly on the shoulder. It looks good too with the in-vogue and effective Mossy Oak Break Up camo pattern being used. Price is approx. £24.

Last but by no means least, is the Yukon Gun Sling, priced at around £25.  This is the other stretchy model giving an overall length of 41 ½” to 42 ½” length - so it gives under weight, but stays firm on the shoulder. The Neoprene shoulder pad is very thick compared to the others with a cross cut design underneath helping give a non-slip grip. What will bring favour with riflemen is the front of the 15 ½” X 2” wide S/Strap as it has 4X elasticated bullet holders – judging by the size, I’d say .222 calibre upwards.

These slings are quite frankly of a superb quality, cleverly designed to suit specific needs, with quality sling swivels and wallet friendly price tags.  For more information on stockists, contact Highland Outdoors on 01858 410683 or visit the website at www.highlandoutdoors.co.uk
