Mil-Tec One Strap Small Assault Pack

The One Strap Assault Pack from Mil-Tec features a sling-style carry. This is ideal for shooters, as it can be carried without hampering or blocking mounting a rifle. Worn across the opposite shoulder from where you mount your gun, it doesn’t have to be taken off and put down before you take a shot, so you can react that much faster. If you do want to take the bag off quickly, you simply squeeze the quick-release buckle in the middle of your chest and it will instantly fall away.

A closer look

The wide, ergonomic and padded shoulder strap has a breathable air-mesh back, a very large quick-release buckle, multiple MOLLE attachment points, a small sleeve pocket and two D-rings. So, endless attachment options. A smaller stabiliser strap, with its own quick-release buckle, helps keep the pack secure, but you can remove it if you want. The shoulder strap is 3” wide, making it very comfortable, and although it is biased towards a right-handed user, it does work ambidextrously. The padded back of the pack also allows air to circulate and ensures a comfortable wear, even when the bag is fully loaded.

The 10-litre capacity consists of a main compartment with two sleeve pockets, a Velcro panel and a separate zippered inner pocket, plus two smaller zippered pockets on the outside. The small top pocket has an inner sleeve pouch and elasticated loops, while the lower pocket has an admin section with a sleeve pocket, nylon strap with carabiner, multiple elastic bands and a further zipped pocket on the front.

Exterior

The outside of the pack features a large padded grab handle, drainage holes at the bottom of the main compartments and multiple MOLLE webbing straps for attaching additional gear. Access to the main compartment and the two smaller compartments is via quality 2-way zippers. These all have extended pulls that can be used when wearing gloves.

On the back of the pack, there is a large, concealed compartment that’s accessible from the top via a press stud on an elasticated strap. If you put your mobile phone in this compartment and set it on silent mode, you can feel it vibrate if you get a call. This is a clever way of having your phone close by without risking a call disturbing the wildlife. Your FAC and other important stuff can also be safely secured in this pocket.

Weighing just 615-grams and measuring 12x9x5”, the Mil-Tec One Strap Small Assault Pack is a very compact carry and even when fully loaded, it sits very comfortably. Having everything immediately accessible and close at hand makes this a very useful piece of kit and the sling design is perfect for shooting use. With a traditional 2-strap backpack, you cannot mount a rifle to your shoulder without having to take the pack off, and this delay can cost you the shot.
