These Cirrus G2 ‘mules’ may not look like shooting shoes – and that’s because they’re not…
Chatham Marine Ltd. specialises in deck shoes and other nautical footwear, but they have recently produced a range of shooting boots – their Winchester boot will be reviewed here next month. The Winchester is a full leather knee high boot ideal for country wear, but if you’ve been out all day tramping around in mud, leaves and worse, you don’t really want to bring all that rural detritus back to muddy up the foot-well of your car.
So Chatham have come up with the Cirrus, a variation on their classic deck shoes, which you can slip on before and after shooting to help keep your car mats clean and your shooting boots where they belong – in the boot (forgive the pun).
The Cirrus is made from premium nubuck leather with a mid brown finish, and has a moccasin like construction making them easy to slip on – and obviously no fastenings to undo or do up. The hand stitched sides of the shoe slope down towards the back and there is a slightly raised edge to help stop your heel slipping out when the front of your foot is raised.
The full length contoured double layer leather/EVA insole is perforated and padded making the shoes comfortable to wear, while the wide fitting allows you to slide your foot in easily – even with heavy ‘boot’ socks on.
The ‘sticky rubber’ sole has a razor cut ‘siping’ thread pattern that increases grip yet won’t pick up dirt, stones or leaves easily.
These comfortable Cirrus G2 mules are available in sizes 6 – 15 and cost £79. They come complete with Chatham’s unique two year Enduro guarantee. Why not treat yourself to a pair for Christmas, or better still, get your nearest and dearest to buy them for you!
