Pentagon Hercules Fleece 2.0 and Perseus Fleece Jacket 2.0

Established in 1991, Pentagon is a well-known manufacturer of top-quality outdoor and military clothing and equipment. Build & similarities

Both fleeces are manufactured from 100% polyester 300gsm fleece and are double-backed super-fine fleeces, which means added warmth in low temperatures and high winds. They both feature high collars, gusseted underarms with two-way ventilation zippers for added breathability, elasticated hook-and-loop adjustable cuffs, plus an adjustable bottom hem with an inner elastic cord and cord lock on each side.

They both fasten via a two-way full front YKK zipper with a glove-friendly Pentagon zip puller and chin guard. They also have zipper garages throughout, plus include a hanging loop. However, where they differ is the Hercules has a hood, while the soft shell used for reinforcement is found at different key areas, plus the pocket layout isn’t the same.

Strong man

First up is the Hercules Fleece 2.0, which boasts a large protective adjustable hood. The soft-shell reinforcement is found on the forearms and elbows for added durability.

Storage is catered for by two zipped hand pockets with inner mesh lining, two inner opposing open-top drop pockets, two vertical zipped sleeve pockets with outer hook-and-loop panels for patches or IDs, plus a left-positioned rubberised headphone inner port. It is available in Black, Green, Coyote, and Wolf Grey.

Winging it

Next up is the Perseus Fleece Jacket 2.0. While this also features a high collar and two-way full-front YKK zipper with a chin guard, it omits a hood. Also, there’s more softshell reinforcement, which can be found at the neck, upper back, forearms, elbows, and shoulders.

There’s also more storage than with the previous fleece. There are two zipped hand pockets with inner mesh lining, a functional zipped chest pocket with inner mesh and rubberised headphone port, two zipped sleeve pockets with outer hook-and-loop panels for attaching patches or IDs, plus three inner open-top drop pockets.
It is available in Black, Midnight Blue, Coyote, Olive Green, and Wolf Grey.

Conclusions

Both garments are suited to a wide range of situations, wonderfully comfortable to wear, and ideal for low temperatures and strong winds. However, they’re also suited to any season depending on the weather conditions. Seeing as they’re manufactured to suit military and security personnel, they’re obviously just as useful and versatile for hunting, fishing, airsoft, paintball, and hiking. They are also stylish enough for wearing as everyday casual wear.
