This superb jacket is a durable, all weather, all season softshell. Highly adaptive and designed to withstand harsh climates, it is TADs most technically advanced jacket (and probably the most advanced model I’ve tested for a while!) which perfectly combines the impermeable nature of a hardshell with the comfort and breathability of a softshell.
The fully seam taped construction of the Stealth Hoodie LT provides elevated performance in severe or unpredictable conditions. The abrasion-resistant nylon face guards against damage while the heavy duty elbow reinforcements resist wear. For additional protection against the elements, a full-length windflap prevents cold air from passing through the main zipper.
In use this is a truly outstanding jacket. The features are generous with two main pockets on the front, two upper arm pockets, one lower arm pocket on the left sleeve, and a “poacher” pocket on the back. Both the front chest and the upper arm pockets have media ports and D rings to attach gear. The hood is of a good size with a soft peak.
Performance is utterly staggering in all conditions! It shrugs off rain and sleet with consummate ease, and is so breathable that you hardly know you are wearing an outer layer! The addition of pit zips for mechanical venting seems almost superfluous, but going at full tilt they certainly come in useful for that little extra ventilation, Although TAD describe this as a softshell you’d be hard pushed to see where a hardshell would outperform it in any way at all.
Whilst this is by no means the cheapest of softshell jackets it really is quite outstanding; I’ve been wearing it for just over a year now and it has performed magnificently in all conditions and environments. If you are going to part with some serious cash then this is a VERY serious bit of kit, and believe me when I tell you that you will get every pennies worth of your investment.
