Wild Things Tactical Windshirt

A couple of weeks ago I was airsofting in an exposed area, an old quarry site to be exact. The weather forecast was for generally sunny and breezy but with a chance of thunderstorms during the afternoon, so I decided, although I was wearing a soft shell pullover from US brand Wild Things Tactical (WTT) top under my Warrior DCS plate carrier, that I would chuck in one of their Windshirts just in case; and boy am I glad that I did.
As the dark clouds rolled in and the wind started howling I hauled the Windshirt on completely over my kit, securing the hood swiftly. The rain came down in sheets, monsoon-like, but the Windshirt, although not quoted as waterproof, took the brunt of the onslaught leaving me and my kit reasonably dry and perfectly able to continue playing. Storm over, I just scrunched it up and shoved it back into my hydration pouch. I got a LOT of questions later from the guys I was playing alongside, I can tell you!
Now I’ve had a few of these fabulous overgarments knocking around with me for some considerable time, and the WTT breathable Windshirt provides exceptional protection from wind and rain just when you need it.
The unique collar design provides full neck protection and, with a half zip front opening, the Windshirt slides over the head easily. A minimally constructed, articulated stow-away hood fits the head snugly allowing a helmet to be worn over it, if you need to. The fit of the shirt is generous enough to pull over a mid-layer, but fitted enough to keep the wind out; if you buy it slightly oversized like I did then it will even fit over a plate carrier and pouches, making it even more versatile.
It weighs next to nothing, a mere 10oz of 70 denier textured nylon which is specially treated to offer high levels of waterrepellence and durability. It scrunches down to about the size of a field dressing, so will easily fit into a pouch or trouser cargo pocket.
It’s simple, effective, and at just £79.99 it’s not going to break the bank either. If you need a bit of fall-back gear that really delivers when you most need it to, then the WTT Windshirt comes very highly recommended!
The WTT Windshirt is available in Tan, OD Green and Multicam.
