Air Arms Shooting Showcase

  • Team Air Arms put on a shooting showcase at the 2018 World Hunter Field Target Championship.

  • The extreme weather experienced over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend didn’t dampen Team Air Arms spirits, who put in strong performances across the board in the 2018 World Hunter Field Target Championships.

  • The championship welcomed elite shooters from 10 different countries and competition was always going to be fierce, but the wet conditions provided an additional challenge. Due to an even worse forecast for the Easter Monday, the competition format was amended with both courses being shot on Sunday, adding further pressure to competitors.

  • An incredible 107 of the 360 competitors used Air Arms rifles, holding their nerve and delivering an impressive haul of silverware. Team Air Arms stand out performers included Neil Wakelin who finished in 3rd Place in the Open Class with an impressive score of 112, narrowly missing out on first place by just two points.

  • Gary Chillingworth continued his extraordinary run in the Recoiling Class, finishing with 103 points and taking 1st Place honours. Fellow Air Arms shooter, Graeme Cargan finished just 2 points back in 2nd Place. Jason Lockett scored 99 points to comfortably take 1st Place in the .22 class. In what was fantastic shooting all around in very testing conditions, Air Arms were delighted to finish 2nd overall in the Manufacturers Team standings.

  • Air Arms Managing Director, Claire West had words of congratulations for all involved. “What a cracking start to the year for the Air Arms HFT Team. Well done to all of the winners and to everyone who took part in what can only be described as very tricky conditions. Mother Nature did her best to foil proceedings but in true British style, everyone rolled up their sleeves, carried on and completed the two courses in one day. It was a magnificent testament to Pete Sparkes and his team of organizers and course setters. Well done everybody!”
