A scarce single barrel .50 cal percussion target pistol by Cocker, with adjustable set trigger. Circa 1840. Decorative scrolling to the lock-plate and engraved with the maker's name Cocker. William Cocker and his son James had a work shop at 103 Glassford Street, Glasgow, Scotland, 1836-1846. The breech and trigger guard engraved with decorative scrolling. Finely chequered wooden grips terminating in a flared pommel with engraved iron pommel cap. V notch rear sight, silver metal fore-sight. Adjustable set trigger. 10.5 inch octagonal barrel. Barrel re-browned at some time, some small dents to the wood, otherwise in good condition showing little sign of use. Action works fine. Overall length 17 inches. Ref 1181.
