Combat History of German Tiger Tank

Combat History of German Tiger Tank

The Tiger tank was introduced into service in Russia, where the 502nd Heavy Tank Battalion was deployed at the time. The powerful vehicle soon gained a fearsome reputation among the Allies, and the Germans created further units equipped with it and the heavier Tiger II. This book focuses on the 503rd Battalion, from the time of its raising in 1942 until the end of the war. The unit fought on the Eastern Front and in Normandy, sometimes with its sister unit, the 502nd, before survivors surrendered to American forces in Czechoslovakia in May 1945. It’s some of those survivors who wrote the text of this work along with some of their photographs, making it a collective series of fascinating personal accounts. If you want to know what it was like inside a Tiger, then this is the book to read, because these were the men who were there.
